  1. LAN Scheduler & Distribution (LANSD) Installation Instructions

  4. Before installing LANSD, make sure that you have unpacked all files
  5. into a directory on your hard disk.  If you prefer, you can unpack
  6. all LANSD files to a high density 3.5" diskette (1.44MB) instead.

  8. A. Installing both Windows and DOS versions
  9.  
  10. 1. Start Microsoft Windows.
  11. 2. Run SETUP.EXE from the directory where LANSD files are stored.
  12. 3. Follow the on-screen prompts.
  13. 4. A Windows Program Manager group will automatically be created and
  14.    LANSD icons will be added.  If you are not using Program Manager,
  15.    you will have to add LANSDW.EXE (Windows version) and LANSD.EXE
  16.    (DOS version) to your menu system.

  18. B. Installing only the DOS version
  19.  
  20. 1. Run SETUPDOS.EXE from the directory where LANSD files are stored.
  21. 2. Follow the on-screen prompts.

  25. Starting LANSD

  28. * The Windows version of LANSD is started by running LANSDW.EXE,
  29.   which is located in the LANSD directory (usually \LANSD).

  31. * The DOS version of LANSD is started by running LANSD.EXE.  This
  32.   program is located in the LANSD directory (usually \LANSD).

  39. The DOS and Windows versions of LANSD operate in a similar way.
  40. Feel free to explore the various menu choices and command buttons with
  41. your mouse or keyboard.  If you need more information, press the F1 key
  42. to receive help on that item.  Detailed help is provided to assist you.

  44. Important:  In order for Scheduler and Software distribution updates
  45. to work in a LAN environment, the LANAGENT.EXE program must be run by
  46. each workstation during network login.  Please see the Windows help file
  47. for step-by-step instructions.
